Larder

Take 1 husband, some wood, screws, other necessities, 1 cupboard under the stairs - and this is what you get

I have always fancied having a walk-in larder with lots of homemade preserves and such like stacked neatly on shelves.  As we don't have one of those in our house, I thought why not utilise the cupboard under the stairs.  OK, it's only semi walk-in, but I'm happy.  It also forced us to get rid of all the junk which collects under there!

As you can see, there's plenty of shelf space.  I prettied it up by adding some French fabric shelf edging, as well as covering the jars of preserves with floral fabrics.

I just need to make more jams now to fill it up!!

I took delivery yesterday of another project which does again require 1 husband!

I'm not sure how old it is, but I love the blue.  It needs a really, really good clean and overhaul of the interior, and a repair to the handle, but once done I think it'll look great.  What do you think?

Thanks for your well wishes with Toby's leg - it's slowly improving and we went back to the doctor's for a check-up and it's healing nicely although he does keep catching it which is inevitable really.

Bye for now.

Oooh I love your new larder!

I have a cupboard in my hall that I think is my favourite part of my flat!!! Once I have my rooms all sorted I hope to turn that into a more of a larder.

Wonderful larder - we don't have stairs, so don't have such a cupboard :-( Big shame.

Well I'm sure you can guess I love your BLUE cupboard, it will look great once you repair and clean it.

Hi Sarah!
I had a giggle when I read "take 1 husband", LOL!
I like the way your clever hubby turned out some plain pieces of wood into a pretty larder, but most of all I love the woman's touch ;-)
Well done Toby, keep on with your improvement!

Yes lovely larder and such pretty jars and labels and shelf-edging - perfect! I love the blue too - while I was growing up we had some china called 'summer sky' which was a really similar blue with some white if I remember right, and my mum loved it. xx

I wish I had a larder as lovely as yours! Our kitchen is so small that your larder is probably bigger. I love the edging that you have used.

Lovely! Just lovely. We have a space like that under the stairs but currently it is swamped with hockey sticks, hoovers and paint.
You lucky thing.

Oh, that's so so wonderful. Have serious case of pantry envy (love that old-fashioned word, "pantry"). Stocked with homemade preserves and that gorgeous teapot fabric, just perfect...

Hi Sarah
Thanks for popping by :-)
I love your new larder and your new-to-you kitchen cupboard, both are beautiful !
We have an understairs cupboard which opens into the kitchen (hope that makes sense!) and we will be doing a serious cupboard makeover very soon. so seeing yours has inspired me to get on with the job! Like you I've always loved walk in larders and this is the next best thing.
Have a lovely weekend,
