It does what it says on the tin (or quilt)

The weather's on a bit of a crash course at the moment - we're due for a day of wet weather and I think Sunday will be the only respite we get.  Lots of indoor stuff this weekend I think!

A couple of weeks ago I was on a mission to make a quilt (a simple one).  Not wanting to spend a lot on supplies, I turned to what I had in my workroom.

Cerise pink fabric was left over from a cushion and other things I had made.

Candy stripe sheet was from a vintage fair.

Floral sheets were from a charity shop.

The size was very much determined by the floral sheet as I decided that I would use that as the reverse.  So actually the size is only really a double.

I did have to but some lovely wadding to go between the 2 layers, but I needed some anyway so the remaining will be used for other projects.

I completed it last week, just prior to our trip to London, and I love it.  To coin a phrase 'it does what it says on the tin'.  It's fulfilled exactly what I wanted it to.  Re-using fabric and sheets.

(An iron's required I think)

Right, onto planning the next project!

Enjoy the weekend!

Result! Very pretty - and so satisfying when you've used mainly re-cycled materials. Well done! Have a good (?wet) weekend! Abby x

How lovely, it is very effective and just shows how sometimes the 'simple' is 'more'. Brilliant a great way to brighten your bed.

What a fantastic result too!

Making some quilts is on my to do list has been for a few years but I chicken out everytime. I am not sure if its the patchworking, sandwhitching or binding that puts me off the most!

Must conquer the fear must conquer the fear...............

Hope you have a great weekend.

Rain here too this weekend - I sat waiting for it today to be honest.

Stunning, Sarah. I love candy stripe bedding so love the fact that you've incorporated it in your quilt. I must get my act together and do some patchworking.

Eek, "persistent rain" forecast for this afternoon and evening and we're off camping. I'm a little scared!

I love it, it's just perfect! Love each color, pattern, design. That pink is my favorite color, so this quilt has to be tops in my book. Thanks for sharing the beauty. I'm really proud of you for getting that done!

That candy stripe is popping up on a few blogs at the mo - I love it as it reminds me of the sheets I used to have when I was little!

Have a great weekend!
